After reading "two paintings by jorie graham" it made me want to immediatly look at the paintings by Gustav Klimt. The despcription in this poem is very good. The words that she use decribes something to be glittery, almost emaculaute. When I looked at the painting entitled "Adam and Eve " it was actually amazing. I noticed how most of his artwork is portraying naked ladies laying down or standing up. The colors in this painting are very deep and someone dark. He used a lot of dark yet stand out colors to really make the people in the portrait stand out.

"One Train Hides Another" by Kenneth Koch
After reading the poem once, then listening to it, I saw that there was a big difference between the two. When you read the poem, "One Train May Hide Another" outloud you get all discumbobulated and thrown off of track. It is easy to get lost in the words and the greater meaning behind the poem because it contains alot of words as well as comparisons. Also when read outloud you are unsure of the pace that the poem should be goin, which confuses you even more. When you listen to the poem it is a different story. The speaker's voice is moving at the pace that the poem should be going which really relaxes your brain. The speaker warns you to relax your mind and really listen to the words that are being said.
"One Train May Hide Another" is more like a story than a poem. It consist of 65 or so lines(i could be some what off because my eyes were burning from not blinking when counting), however it contains no stanzas. This poem is very tricky on the eyes because being that it has no stanzas you arent really sure when you should pause, or take a break, so you find yourself rambling on and reading with out breathing for about 5 minutes. The concept of the poem is a "what if" factor. It gives you reasons behind the reasons to look beyond the reasons when you are reasoning (tongue twister I kno, how you all get it). This line stood out the most to me in the poem, "In the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve may hide the real Adam and Eve". This line stood out the most to me because it actually made me think, what if we dont know the true story behind the garden of eden? what if its more to the story then we are told?. When these questions popped up in my head I knew that the poem had successfully got me, it made me a victim of the "what if" factor.
All together I actually enjoyed this poem. It made a lot of interesting points and "what if" factors.

"The Weary Blues" by Langston Hughes
I really enjoyed watching this video. I liked how it started off showing you Time Square and many other popular places in NYC. I think they chose to show you at night because that is when it is lighted as well as the most busy. The poem "The Weary Blues" is a very deep poem. I liked how the guy on the stage was using his body to express the words in the poem as the speaker was speaking. When the line "rocking back and forth to a mellow croon" was announced by the speaker the man on the stage actually did a back and forth motion. This video showed you what the blues were actaully about and what people did when they heard poetry or music that contained this type of tone. The jazz music in the background was very dark and creepy. It was also very depressing.
The Harlem Renaissance- Langston Hughes
The Harlem Renaissance is a point in African American History where the cultural aspects were really important. Harlem was a place where African Americans could express themselves musically, through poetry, and through culture. It was a time when Jazz was a big hit in the Era. Musicians (Louis Armstrong, Marian Anderson) were able to tell a story through their music in a form of the blues. Blues was a type of music that dealt with hardships of life and love. The music was often very sad and the tunes were depressing. Singers like Billie Holiday and Josephine Baker had to fight as women to stay on the jazz scene because at that time it was known to be done by african american males, only.
When you ride through Harlem now their are many parts that still try to keep the culture of the renaissance alive, however there are some neighborhoods that have fallin off. The Apollo Theatre is perhaps the most legendary building in Harlem where many of the people who dwelled in the Renaissance have came a time or two in their life to speak or perform. They have many pictures in the inside mostly autographed. When I went to the Apollo Theatre to visit it was very breath taking. It felt unreal because I walked through some the same doors that have made a difference in african american culture and history.
I preferbly like to read the poetry of Langston Hughes and W.E.B. Dubois because they were very meaningful as well as educational. You can drown in their words and imagine yourself in the situations that they are describing through their poetry.
